Is ChatGPT good for writing papers? How Acadwrite differs
ChatGPT deep research pulls dozens of web pages into a sourced report, and it rewrites English well. For a paper it lacks two things: sources come from the public web, not scholarly databases, and the method rests on whatever one prompt implies. Mainland China is also outside ChatGPT's supported regions.

Is ChatGPT reliable for writing papers?
It is good for rewriting, explaining and organising ideas. Check its references one by one: in one study 19.9% of citations in GPT-4o literature reviews were fabricated, and 45.4% of the real ones had at least one bibliographic error, most often the DOI.
Can ChatGPT deep research write a literature review?
It produces a sourced report: you edit a research plan first and can export to Word. But it searches the public web, uploaded files and connected apps rather than scholarly databases, and in a benchmark of 100 PhD-level tasks about 78% of its citations supported their statements. For a paper's review, coverage and citations still need to be extended and checked.
Are ChatGPT's references real?
Not always. An early study found 18% of GPT-4 citations fabricated; for GPT-4o reviews the rate was 19.9%, higher for niche topics. Resolve each DOI at doi.org or search the full title in a database, and delete what you cannot find.
Can I use ChatGPT for papers in mainland China?
Mainland China and Hong Kong are not on OpenAI's list of supported ChatGPT regions, and OpenAI states that use outside the list may lead to an account being blocked or suspended.
